Cloud Essentials ProfessionalCloud computing is likely to be one of the biggest IT revolutions of these years. But how to optimally use that as an IT professional? And what could be the role of cloud computing in your organization?
|
Cloud Essentials is a two day course that prepares for the internationally recognized certificate 'CompTIA Cloud Essentials Professional' that is issued by the Cloud Credential Council (www.cloudcredential.org).
The course prepares organizations for an optimal deployment of these new developments. As an IT professional (be it manager, CIO, architect, specialist or service manager) or business sponsor for IT you know that cloud computing will have a major impact on business.
|
These intensive and interactive two days lead you to:
- understand the most important terms and definitions in cloud computing,
- understand characteristics of clouds and cloud services from a business perspective
- show how these perspectives lead to business value,
- explain the steps that are necessary to successfully deploy cloud computing services,
- identify which skills are necessary in an organization to realize the advantages of cloud computing
- identify the organizational capabilities that are relevant for realizing cloud benefits.
- understand the impact and changes of cloud computing on IT service management.
- explain and identify the issues associated with integrating cloud computing into an organization's existing compliance risk and regulatory framework.
- understand how to maintain strategic flexibility.
These skills will give you a good foundation, and prevent your organization from missing opportunities in the cloud, or jumping in too lighthearted.
This course will teach you little about the technology of virtualization, and after the course you would not be capable of setting up a VMware farm, for example. You will be able to judge if this is a good strategy for your organization. You will also be better able to judge the usefulness and necessity of other products and services. Cloud Computing Foundation is also very good to base vendor specific training on.
Cloud computing is a viable alternative right now for a lot of IT. Time and cost reductions can be very substantial, and the new possibilities can be useful. That justifies the cost of this course in a very short time. Think about it: what is the value of having a new IT service available one week earlier?
On top of that, ill-advised and thoughtless cloud adventures can seriously damage the business. Just figure out what one day of IT failure would cost.
Lots of organization need rapid and independent insight in pros, cons and risks of cloud computing. Vendors can give you a lot of information, but seldom independent advice.
On the internet you can find everything that is covered in this course, but you will have to search thoroughly for it, and put aside a lot of sales talk, unfounded opinions or blatant uninformed rubbish.
Technical specialists are of great importance in your organization, now and in the future. But these experts have to be brought together in a comprehensive business perspective; otherwise they will fail to align their visions.
Cloud computing is absolutely a hype; but at the same time it is the continuation of an evolution in digital infrastructures that has occupied me for decades. For me this all started when I began working on computer networks, way before the time there even was in Internet in most countries. Even back then there were visions of computer capacity available on a worldwide basis. Today this has become a mature industry, of which small and large enterprises alike can benefit.

I developed this course on cloud computing together with ITpreneurs, on the basis of years of experience with IT service providers, customers and large consultancies. ITpreneurs has 10 years of experience in developing IT management courses, and delivers these worldwide through an extensive partner network. As Master Trainer for cloud computing I am getting to know more and more of this partner network. Just look at my recommendations on LinkedIN. In addition we are getting valuable feedback from the Cloud Credential Council, in which companies such as Cisco, EMC, HP, IBM, ING, and Rackspace participate.

Past students of my trainings include people who work in IT at banks, but also service providers who are now developing their cloud offerings. Feedback that I am getting includes: "with these insights I can much better manage my supplier. "
Service providers take this course to better advise their clients, and to improve their internal processes.
Cloud Essentials not only give you a head start in knowledge and skills, it is also an opportunity to join a community of like-minded. I am in contact with many former students. Additionally there is an online game with the course, and there are several books with practitioner views.
The course cost is € 1480 for two days, including materials and refreshments, excluding VAT.
